Removing Unwanted Hair With IPL Laser

ipl laser reviewWhen we talk of permanent hair removal techniques, the two names that first come to mind are laser hair removal and electrolytic hair removal. While some people prefer to use the electrolytic hair removal in order to address the problem of their hair, others do not prefer it because of the electrolytes that are involved and the irritation and tingling that is faced as a result. That is why more and more people are switching to the use of lasers in order to remove their body hair. If we dig a little bit deeper, there are two types of lasers, the regular lasers and the IPL Laser machines.

The regular laser hair removal system contains a laser diode connected to a power generation unit, which then produces a laser beam that targets the hair root and provides it with energy so that the root as well as the shaft die. This results in the permanent destruction of the hair root and hair growth is stopped in the concerned area. However, this does not mean that the hair follicle is destroyed and another hair may well grow from it, but the chances of that happening are remote. Thus, a person gets hair free body for quite a long period of time. Such laser hair removal machines are available in targeted laser, which emits a continuous beam of laser and short burst types, which emit continuous short bursts of high intensity laser, a principle on which the IPL Laser is based.

The IPL Laser is called IPL Laser but that is a misnomer, because it has got nothing to do with lasers. IPL means Intense Pulsed Light, it does not mean Intense Pulsed Laser, which is not understood by certain people and they tend to refer to it as a laser. The so called IPL Laser has a special halogen lamp, which contains Xenon gas and therefore emits a high intensity light, which penetrates the upper part of the skin and provides so much energy to the hair shaft and root, that they die almost instantaneously. The only thing that is similar in it and lasers is that it also provides short bursts of intense energy and that it too, uses a form of light energy.

The good thing about IPL Laser is that unlike a laser, it has a special lens in order to filter out the ultraviolet radiation from reaching the skin. This feature makes it a lot safer than ordinary lasers and at the same time, it makes it good for another use. Since the human skin is damaged by ultraviolet rays, IPL Laser can be used to provide sufficient amounts of energy so as to make the skin flexible again and remove the wrinkles out of it. That is why IPL Laser is now used for skin care as well, since it does not pertain the danger of causing skin cancer.

However, the IPL Laser does have its disadvantages. Firstly, its treatment is quite expensive and multiple sessions are needed to get rid of hair. Secondly, increased skin redness, itchiness and irritation of the skin may result after the first few treatments, which will subside with time but is nonetheless very annoying.
